- Coffee oil contains fatty acids such as linoleic and palmitic acids, which have been shown to increase the production of collagen and elastin: proteins that are important for smoothing out wrinkles and maintaining the firmness and flexibility of the facial skin. The oil also fights UV damage to improve the skin's strength, resistance and elasticity.
- Skin cells treated with coffee oil have the ability to stop moisture loss and improve skin hydration. The proteins in the oil act like a sponge to trap water molecules and then transport them to the top layer of the skin. It also has the ability to protect against accelerated skin aging through increased apoptosis (programmed cell death) of UVB-damaged keratinocytes which removes damaged skin cells before they cause accelerated skin aging and skin cancer.
Coffee oil contains a high concentration of chloric acid which reduces redness associated with excessive exposure to sunlight and the caffeine limits damage, reducing skin unevenness and wrinkling.
